Why the SCP is fundamentally different from the CP
The SHRM-SCP tests both proficiency indicator tiers from the BASK, including the For Advanced HR Professionals tier that the SHRM-CP does not touch. SJI scenarios place you in VP and CHRO-level roles — developing enterprise-wide policy, advising the C-suite, and navigating multi-stakeholder strategic decisions. Prep built for the CP does not cover this level. The 17-point gap between CP (69%) and SCP (52%) pass rates reflects it.
BASK 2026 changes now in effect
For exams administered on or after May 1, 2026, SHRM consolidated 9 behavioral competencies down to 8. Inclusion & Diversity and Global Mindset merged into Inclusive Mindset, and AI-related content expanded across multiple competencies. Critical Evaluation was renamed Analytical Aptitude in an earlier BASK update. If your prep references 9 competencies or a standalone Global Mindset, it has not been updated.
