The price is the problem: $820 for members and $1,130 for nonmembers online-only, rising to $1,020/$1,330 with printed books, with no pass guarantee at any tier. The recurring candidate complaint — echoed across HR communities — is that the content is dry and text-heavy, and that its practice questions run easier than the real exam’s situational judgment items.

Pocket Prep’s SHRM-CP bank has grown to 1,600 questions across six subjects as of July 2026 — roughly double what it offered a year ago — and its app remains the smoothest mobile study experience in this market. Eight quiz modes (Question of the Day, Weakest Subject, Build Your Own, a timed Mock Exam mode) make five-minute study windows genuinely productive, and it publishes clear BASK 2026 guidance.

What it is not is a course. There is no video, no book, and no SJI strategy instruction, and the recurring candidate verdict is that its one-at-a-time drill questions run more recall-based than the real exam’s situational judgment items. The honest role for Pocket Prep is the supplement it markets itself as — and at $20.99/month with a 3-free-months pass guarantee, it is excellent in that role.

HRCP has prepared HR candidates since the 1990s and is one of the few providers anywhere offering a “You Pass or Your Money Back” guarantee — a genuinely rare term in this market (conditions apply; read them before purchase). The SHRM-CP kit runs $270 for the online edition with audio, $375 in print, or $480 for both, and its knowledge-domain books are thorough in the way only a decades-old print program is.

Its weaknesses mirror its heritage. HRCP does not publish a question count for the SHRM-CP program, which makes comparison shopping difficult; the digital experience trails app-first rivals; and its HRCI-first DNA shows in light coverage of SHRM’s situational-judgment style. Candidates who love studying from structured books get the most from it.

HR Jetpack bundles the complete official 2026 SHRM Prep System — retired real questions included — with 36+ hours of live and recorded instructor-led classes for $1,199 (digital books) to $1,399 (international print). Compared to university-partner equivalents that run $1,500–$1,600, it is the cheapest way to get the official materials with a human instructor and a schedule.

The math only works if you use the classes. The underlying content is the same $820–$1,130 official system, so the extra ~$380 buys accountability and Q&A access; skip the live sessions and you have simply overpaid. No pass guarantee is advertised on the program page.

Mometrix’s SHRM-CP course carries the most full-length practice tests of any provider here — eight — alongside 1,250+ questions, 160+ lessons and 560+ flashcards. For candidates who calibrate confidence through repeated mock exams, that volume is the draw.

Two things temper the recommendation. The $129.99/month subscription auto-renews, and billing complaints are a persistent minority theme in Mometrix’s reviews across products; a typical 10–14 week study plan lands around $390. And we could not find an explicit 8-competency BASK 2026 alignment statement on the course page as of July 17, 2026. The $44.99 Secrets study guide, by contrast, is the product candidates actually praise — a recurring passing combination in candidate stories is “Mometrix book + Pocket Prep.”

Workology’s Ace the HR Exam is the only genuinely audio-first SHRM-CP prep — podcast-style lessons from Jessica Miller-Merrell’s long-running HR media brand, built for candidates who study on commutes. It bundles a 1,500-question bank categorized by SHRM competency with lifetime access.

The list price is the obstacle: around $999 for the lifetime tier per Workology’s indexed product listing (the site blocks automated access, so verify current pricing directly), which positions it against the official system rather than the budget tools — without retired real questions or a pass guarantee. Most visible praise traces back to Workology’s own audience rather than independent reviews.
