Five Decision Filters
how to apply this
- › Run every question through the filters in order. An answer that fails filter 1 is wrong even if it looks perfect on filter 3.
- › ~80 seconds per question is the target pace. Do NOT spend 5 minutes on one — flag and move on.
- › No penalty for wrong answers. Never leave a question blank — a guess is a 25% hit rate, a blank is 0%.
- › When torn between two plausible answers, pick the one that reflects servant leadership and ethics. That is the PMI tiebreaker.
Exam Traps
Escalate trap
The most tempting wrong answer is usually escalate to the sponsor. Exhaust your authority first.
Skip-the-process trap
Answers that bypass CCB, risk register, or communications plan are almost always wrong. Trust the process.
Ignore-stakeholders trap
Any answer that ignores a stakeholder, even a hostile one, is wrong. Engagement always.
Wrong-methodology trap
Applying predictive rules to an agile scenario or vice versa. Read the context clues before choosing.
What would a PMI-ideal PM do
Ask this on every question. Servant leader, stakeholder engagement, proactive, ethical, value-focused.
No section returns
Once you finish a case-study section and take the break, you cannot go back. Answer everything before the break.
